Depart Auckland for the Parry Kauri Park for an introduction to the beautiful Kauri tree. Here we will see two 800 year old trees.
From here we continue on to Kaiwaka where we will stop for morning tea.
Continue to Dargaville to visit the Woodturner's Kauri Gallery before taking a lunch break at a local cafe.
After lunch we continue north to Trounson Kauri Park. Here we take a 40 stroll through New Zealand native trees including many Kauri trees.
Next we drive through the sub-tropical Waipoua Forest and on up to Tane Mahuta, the tallest living kauri tree. Estimated to be 2000 years old, Tane is 52 metres tall with a circumference of 13 metres.
After visiting Tane Mahuta we continue on to the Hokianga Harbour, stopping to admire the panoramic views above Omapere, a peaceful harbour, before continuing on to Kaikohe and turning south to Whangarei and back to Auckland.
